Molly Thompson M.S. CCC-SLP is a sole proprietor and is fortunate to share an office with a collaborative group (abilitygroupak.com)of dedicated therapists in speech-language pathology and occupational therapy. She is PROMPT© trained and a certified LSVT-LOUD(R) Pediatric provider. A spouse of a retired Air Force member, her work followed Air Force postings for many years. She has worked the entire age spectrum: Special Ed preschool at Minot AFB, ND, nursing homes in Lubbock, TX and Programs for Infants and Children in Anchorage. She went into private practice in 1991, thoroughly enjoying the collaboration with families in the speech and language treatment of their children.
Molly specializes in the treatment of language and speech disorders in Down Syndrome, childhood apraxia of speech, developmental language disorders and neurological-based speech and language disorders. She has presented locally and nationally on speech-sound disorders, language and play skills in Down syndrome and strategies in the treatment of language learning disorders. She is certified in PROMPT © and LSVT-LOUD Pediatric ® . PROMPT©is one of many techniques Molly incorporates in the treatment of Childhood Apraxia of Speech.
LSVT-LOUD Pediatric ® is an intensive protocol using voice for the the treatment of certain speech disorders in those with cerebral palsy and Down Syndrome. Molly is a strong believer that making therapy fun increases the learning curve.
Molly enjoys mentoring and advocating in the profession. She is currently on the board of the Alaska Speech-Language Hearing Association and the ASHA Coordinating Committee for Special Interest Group 1 , Language, Learning and Education. She is a 2015 recipient of the ASHA Fellow reward.
